Sangju-si was selected for the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's General Neighborhood-type Urban Regeneration New Deal Project in 2017 and received funding to implement a safety street creation project.
The city invested 150 million won in a 180m section of Seongdong 1-gil and Nammun 2-gil to improve the exterior walls of houses and the surrounding environment.
In the previously dark and gloomy alleys, charming murals, LED lights, and decorative lights shaped like birds, stars, and the moon were installed to create a bright and safe street.
