Recommend Voluntary Testing and Strengthen Disinfection
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Seo Young-seo] A caddie, a golf course assistant at Muan CC, a 54-hole public golf course in Muan, Jeonnam, tested positive for COVID-19, prompting health authorities to raise an alert.
According to health authorities on the 1st, among the 7 new COVID-19 cases reported in Muan on the 30th of last month, caddie A (Muan case number 162) at Muan CC tested positive.
Contact tracing revealed that A had a meal with Muan case number 156 on the 24th of last month.
Muan case number 156, confirmed positive on the 29th of last month with an unknown infection route, led to three additional confirmed cases including A and those who had contact with him.
After contact with Muan case number 156, A went to work at the golf course on the 29th of last month, experienced COVID-19 symptoms during work, and underwent a PCR test at Muan Health Center the following day, which confirmed the positive result.
On the morning of the 1st, Muan County Health Center visited Muan CC, secured the list of people who played rounds with caddie A, and notified them to undergo COVID-19 testing.
Except for a visit to another region from the 26th to the 28th of last month, A continuously worked at Muan CC, raising concerns about additional confirmed cases.
A representative of Muan CC stated, “We learned late in the afternoon on the 30th that one golf course assistant tested positive for COVID-19, and we instructed employees who commute with the caddie from Gwangju to get tested and come to work only after testing. We also notified employees who had no contact with the confirmed case to undergo PCR testing.”
