Imsil-gun Greatly Expands Support for Senior Employment and Social Activities
[Imsil=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Park Nosik] Imsil-gun, Jeonbuk (Governor Shim Min) announced on the 1st that it will significantly expand the senior job and social activity support projects for local elderly residents.
With the elderly population continuously increasing, the county has increased the budget and the number of jobs for senior participation next year.
The budget for senior jobs next year has increased by 800 million KRW from 6.5 billion KRW this year to 7.3 billion KRW, and the number of participants has increased by 9.4% from 1,930 to 2,042, respectively.
The senior job and social activity support projects for next year will provide customized jobs including public interest activities (1,820 people), market-type (72 people), social service type (120 people), and employment referral type (30 people).
Public interest activities are available to basic pension recipients aged 65 or older, and market-type jobs are open to any residents aged 60 or older.
The activity period for senior jobs is 11 months (January to December) for public interest activities, 1 year (January to December) for market-type, and 10 months for social service type.
Participants in the senior social activity project’s public interest activities receive an activity allowance of 270,000 KRW for a total of 30 hours of activity, 10 times a month (3 hours each).
Currently, participants are being recruited until the 17th at 12 eup/myeon offices, the Korean Senior Citizens Association Imsil Branch, Imsil Senior Club, and Imsil-gun Senior Welfare Center.
The county plans to provide customized jobs to seniors who wish to work, supporting various jobs and social activities so that the elderly can lead a vibrant and healthy old age.
As of August this year, the elderly population aged 65 or older in Imsil-gun is 10,067, accounting for 37.5% of the total residents based on age statistics.
Accordingly, the county is promoting welfare services in various fields such as culture, health, and transportation as well as jobs to improve senior welfare, receiving great responses.
Through the operation of the Imsil-gun Senior Comprehensive Welfare Center, a specialized institution for the elderly, it provides high-quality welfare, leisure, and cultural life for seniors.
In particular, the small public bathhouses for residents and the senior bath coupon distribution policy have received great responses from the elderly.
Currently, four small public bathhouses are operating in Unam-myeon, Gangjin-myeon, Sinpyeong-myeon, and Cheongung-myeon, and for seniors aged 65 or older who have difficulty using the small bathhouses, 13 bath coupons are distributed annually, allowing them to use the bathhouse for only 1,000 KRW.
For health welfare, a physical therapy room is operated, and special attention is paid to transportation welfare by operating a happiness bus and call taxi for residents living in transportation-deprived areas and elderly with mobility difficulties.
Governor Shim Min said, “As an ultra-aged area where the elderly population reaches 40%, we are paying special attention to policies focused on filial piety welfare,” and added, “We will do our best to promote senior welfare services so that local elderly residents can enjoy a vibrant old age.”
