Yeongsangang Regional Environmental Office Holds Meeting with Factory Managers of Major Companies in Gwangyang Bay Area
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] The Yeongsan River Basin Environmental Office (Director Ryu Yeon-gi) announced on the 1st that it held a meeting on chemical safety management at the Venice Hotel in Yeosu, attended by factory managers of major companies in the Gwangyang Bay area.
The meeting was held to strengthen the awareness of chemical safety management among major companies in the Gwangyang Bay area and to urge companies to make efforts to prevent environmental and chemical accidents.
As chemical accidents continue to occur annually in the jurisdiction, with diverse types of accidents and substances involved, there is a need for thorough accident prevention and response measures. The top management of major companies in the Gwangyang Bay area was encouraged to take direct interest and strengthen the safe management of hazardous chemicals, and excellent chemical safety management methods of companies were shared.
At the meeting, Ryu Yeon-gi, Director of the Yeongsan River Basin Environmental Office, said, “Chemical accidents can spread rapidly and cause large-scale human and property damage.” He urged, “Companies should make every effort to prevent chemical accidents and minimize damage spread through prompt initial response in case of an accident.”
