"Leap to a Comprehensive Content Platform" One Store Books Changes Brand Name to 'One Story'
[Asia Economy Reporter Eunmo Koo] On the 1st, One Store announced that it has changed the name of its story content service from ‘One Store Books’ to ‘One Story’ and will expand its business across the entire content value chain.
Launched in 2016, One Store Books acquired the genre novel specialist publisher Rock Media in April to secure story content intellectual property (IP) and build production capabilities, and established a joint venture ‘Studio Yes One’ with Yes24. In June, it invested in Kuaikuan, China’s No. 1 webtoon platform, establishing domestic and international hubs for content distribution.
The revamped One Story plans to expand its business areas beyond its existing focus on distribution to include story content production and One Source Multi Use (OSMU). To this end, it will increase investment in webtoon and web novel production to secure content copyrights and reproduce them into games, movies, dramas, and more in collaboration with various partners.
It will significantly enhance both the quantity and quality of content and greatly improve service convenience. First, it plans to discover exclusive content available only on One Story and gradually increase the number of early-release works. This month, One Story will exclusively and pre-serialize 37 fantasy and romance novels including Zakayev’s ‘Naee Ane Psychopath’ and Masheri’s ‘Sarisayok,’ as well as 25 webtoons including Shin Cho-on’s ‘Igeon Noru’ and Hong Seung-woo’s ‘Bibimtoon.’ Along with this, One Store plans to increase support to improve conditions for creators by continuously providing serialization opportunities.
Usability has also been improved. The personalized curation system has been strengthened, and the app design and functions have been completely revamped to enhance user convenience.
Customer benefits have been greatly increased to strengthen service competitiveness. One Store is the first in the industry to offer membership discount services in partnership with the three major telecom companies and will launch a monthly subscription service called ‘One Story Pass.’ With One Story Pass, users can enjoy the largest number of webtoons among subscription models for 7,900 KRW per month and have unlimited access to over 50,000 general books and diverse content. One Story Pass is also available on SK Telecom’s Woozoo Pass.
