Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency Establishes 'Sensitive Case Response Team' for Personal Protection and Crimes Against Women
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Gwan-joo] The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency announced on the 1st that it has established a 'Sensitive Case Dedicated Response Team' to intensively manage cases involving protection of individuals at risk, crimes against women, and child abuse.
The dedicated response team will utilize 112 emergency calls and Abuse Prevention Officers (APO) to verify repeated reports and criminal histories, and will review closed cases. This information will be used to assess on-site situations and serve as a standard to evaluate the appropriateness of on-site measures and case closures.
The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency also plans to introduce an overlapping inspection system and establish a support system for regional commanders and the comprehensive command center reception.
Meanwhile, the National Police Agency held a 'Police Field Response Enhancement Task Force (TF)' meeting the day before, discussing measures such as ▲operating an advisory group of field police officers ▲strengthening inspections of repeated report cases.
First, to reflect the voices from the field in the TF operations, an advisory group composed of about 50 field police officers will be operated. The advisory group will collect opinions through regular and ad hoc meetings and participate directly in the TF through joint meetings when necessary.
The police also decided to strengthen the command of city and provincial police agencies over cases with three or more reports and expand the inspection system to include complaints about daily life inconveniences such as noise between floors.
