Comedy Program 'Jingman' Under Police Investigation for Alleged Assault on Man and Mobile Phone Damage
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Jung-yoon] Hwang Mo (38), a health trainer who became famous after appearing on a cable TV comedy program, is under police investigation for assaulting two men and damaging their mobile phones.
According to the police on the 30th, the Gangnam Police Station in Seoul received a report at around 1:40 a.m. that Hwang assaulted two men on a sidewalk in Yeoksam-dong, Gangnam-gu, and broke their mobile phones. They are currently conducting a preliminary investigation.
It is known that when two men in their 20s were filming Hwang with their phones, he approached them and asked, "Are you filming me?" After they answered "Yes," he tripped them, knocked one of them down, hit one in the face, and then took their phones and threw them on the ground.
Hwang refused the police's voluntary accompaniment request and is reportedly coordinating an investigation schedule with the Gangnam Police Station.
A police official stated, "Neither Hwang nor the victims have been questioned yet," adding, "After the investigation, we plan to formally charge him with assault and property damage."
