Yujinseop, Mayor of Jeongeup, Goes All Out to Prevent Local Spread of COVID-19
[Jeongeup=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jae-gil] Yoo Jin-seop, mayor of Jeongeup City, Jeonbuk, instructed the administration to strengthen thorough quarantine measures and urged citizens to strictly comply with quarantine rules in response to the increase in COVID-19 cases four weeks after the phased recovery of daily life.
Mayor Yoo presided over a video executive meeting on the 29th and said, “While the nationwide daily number of confirmed cases is hovering around 3,900, confirmed cases have been rapidly occurring in Jeongeup since this month.”
He added, “I ask everyone to wear masks anytime and anywhere, and if you have symptoms suspicious of COVID-19 such as fever or respiratory issues, please visit the public health center’s screening clinic promptly to get tested.”
Although 81.63% of the entire population (as of 9 a.m. on the 26th) have received the second basic vaccination, breakthrough infections are rapidly increasing, making additional vaccinations for those aged 60 and over urgently necessary. Therefore, the city ordered that administrative efforts be actively made using village officials and community leaders in towns and townships to support reservations and other measures.
Mayor Yoo emphasized, “Especially at multi-use gathering places such as Jeongeup Station, the terminal, city hall, and other public facilities, citizens must strictly follow quarantine rules, and quarantine activities should be further strengthened.”
Meanwhile, at the meeting, Mayor Yoo also advocated for active participation in the ‘Hope 2022 Sharing Campaign’ and thorough preparation for the city administration questions at the 4th plenary session of the 269th Jeongeup City Council (2nd regular session) scheduled for the 8th of next month, as well as systematic cooperation among departments.
