299 Apartment Units to Be Built on Kia Motors Site in Geumcheon-gu
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyemin] A complex of 299 residential units and a knowledge industry center will be built on the Kia Motors site in Geumcheon-gu, Seoul.
On the 26th, Seoul held the 10th Urban and Architectural Joint Committee Delegated Subcommittee and announced on the 28th that it had approved the amendment of the Geumcheon-gu Core District Unit Plan and the detailed development plan for the Kia Motors site special planning zone in the area of 996-3, Siheung-dong, Geumcheon-gu.
The Kia Motors site special planning zone has been used as a factory for vehicle inspection since 1958 and is currently operated as the Kia Motors Siheung Service Center.
This detailed development plan was decided to integrate industry, residential, and support facilities in accordance with the 2030 Seoul Plan and the comprehensive development plan for semi-industrial areas in Seoul's urban planning.
Specifically, 299 residential units will be built on the residential land, consisting of buildings from two basement floors to 25 floors above ground. On the industrial land, a knowledge industry center with six basement floors and 12 floors above ground, along with modernized automobile-related facilities, will be constructed. On the public facility land, a library and a Kiwoom Center for local residents will be built as a seven-story building.
