Gyeongbuk Sangju City Awarded 'Best' Institution in Rural Vitality Evaluation
Sangju City, Gyeongbuk, received the Grand Prize in the '2021 Rural Vitality Sector Evaluation'.

The rural vitality sector evaluation is conducted to strengthen rural work capabilities through sharing and spreading best practices.
Gyeongsangbuk-do inspected and evaluated 22 cities and counties within the province on 10 items including national property, agricultural workforce support, rural development, and infrastructure establishment.
The city promoted five districts of the Basic Living Base Creation Project, rural agreements, and the New Vitality Plus Project as part of the comprehensive development project in the rural development sector.
Through local transfer projects, it carried out village-making projects in eight districts and promoted basic living infrastructure maintenance projects, receiving recognition for a high project expenditure rate and performance.
Throughout this year, by promoting various public contest projects from central government ministries, it signed a rural agreement in July and was selected for the Rural Regeneration New Deal Project contest, earning high scores for activities securing national funding.
It also received good evaluations in the best practice sector by implementing temporary returnee farmer housing installation projects, pilot projects for dormitory-type workforce support in rural experience villages, and entrusted management services for drainage pump stations.

Kim Sijin, Director of Development Support Division, said, “We plan to invest more in the basic infrastructure and agricultural production facilities of Sangju’s rural areas and discover new projects,” adding, “We will enthusiastically help improve the quality of life in rural areas through development specialized for the region.”
