Former Prosecutor General Seeking Non-Executive Media Auditor Position 'Employment Not Approved'
Government Public Officials Ethics Committee Publishes November Employment Review Results for Retired Public Officials... 3 Employment Restrictions, 9 Employment Disapprovals
[Asia Economy Reporter Ryu Jeong-min] The Government Public Officials Ethics Committee has made a 'disapproval of employment' decision regarding former Prosecutor General Moon Moo-il's non-executive auditor position at Seoul Shinmun.
The Government Public Officials Ethics Committee announced on the 25th that it will disclose on the Public Officials Ethics System website the results of employment reviews conducted on 52 cases where retired public officials requested employment screening as of the 19th.
The Ethics Committee determined that 3 cases, where there was a close business relationship between the department or agency the official belonged to during the last five years before retirement and the prospective employer, were subject to 'employment restrictions,' and 9 cases that did not meet the legal criteria for employment approval were decided as 'disapproval of employment.'
Regarding the former Prosecutor General, who retired in July 2019, and his employment as a non-executive auditor at Seoul Shinmun Co., Ltd., the Ethics Committee decided on disapproval of employment citing 'no grounds for approval.'
Although the Ethics Committee did not disclose the former Prosecutor General's name, it was revealed that it was Moon Moo-il, noting that he retired in July 2019.

Meanwhile, the Ethics Committee requested the competent courts to impose fines on 15 cases of arbitrary employment without prior employment screening.
