Samyoung M-Tech Signs 8.2 Billion KRW Contract to Supply Monorail Structure Equipment
[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunseok Yoo] Samyoung M-Tech announced on the 24th that it has signed a contract worth approximately 8.15849 billion KRW to supply bridge bearings and expansion joints for monorails with HPH JV (a consortium of Hyundai Engineering & Construction, POSCO Engineering & Construction, and Hyundai Engineering).
This project is scheduled to be deployed in the Panama City area from today until July 31, 2023. The Panama Metro Line 3 project is a monorail project applying the Japanese Hitachi type monorail, jointly executed with domestic construction companies Hyundai Engineering & Construction, POSCO Engineering & Construction, and Hyundai Engineering. The total length is 25 km, connecting Panama City and the western part of the capital. The construction sections of Panama Metro Line 3 are divided into the main line section, station section, and vehicle depot section, and the contract signed by Samyoung M-Tech this time is for the vehicle depot section.
Samyoung M-Tech is the only company in Korea that has the design, manufacturing, and verification capabilities for bridge bearings applied to the Hitachi type monorail. It is recognized for its outstanding technology and competitiveness not only in the domestic market but also in overseas markets.
Representative delivery achievements of Samyoung M-Tech’s monorail bridge bearings include the Daegu Urban Railway Line 3, the only Hitachi type monorail in Korea. Overseas achievements include the Osaka Monorail, Tokyo Monorail, and Okinawa Monorail in Japan.
Riding on the success of winning the contract for the vehicle depot section of Panama Metro Line 3, the company is currently pursuing orders for bridge bearings for the main line section. The sales target area for monorail bridge bearings, which was previously limited to Korea and Japan, is expanding to regions such as Latin America.
