Gwangju Buk-gu Hosts 'Malbau Market Autumn Festival' with Various Events
On the 26th and 27th: Movie Screenings, Busking Performances, and Market Experiences
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yukbong] A festival for local residents will be held at Malbau Market, a traditional market representing Gwangju.
According to Buk-gu, Gwangju City (District Mayor Moon In) on the 24th, the "Malbau Market Autumn Festival" will be held for two days on the 26th and 27th.
Hosted by the Malbau Market Merchants Association and the Cultural Tourism Market Development Project Group, this event was prepared to bring joy to citizens visiting the market and to revitalize the traditional market.
On the 26th, starting at 2 PM, there will be a merchants' singing contest and congratulatory performances, followed by the opening ceremony of the drive-in theater at the market's 3rd parking lot at 4:30 PM, and the screening of the movie Mogadishu at 7 PM.
On the 27th, busking performances, market experiences, prize events, and the screening of the movie Miracle are scheduled twice at 11 AM and 2 PM.
Meanwhile, since January last year, Buk-gu has been promoting the Ministry of SMEs and Startups' Cultural Tourism Market Development Project, focusing on promoting Malbau Market and strengthening its competitiveness through online platform (WEMAKEPRICE) entry, live commerce operations, and installation of market photo zones.
District Mayor Moon In of Buk-gu said, "As this is the first festival held in a long time since the spread of COVID-19, we hope interested citizens will shop economically and enjoy the festival happily," adding, "We will continue to provide active support for the revitalization of traditional markets."
