Korea Forest Service Conducts Comprehensive Inspection of Unauthorized Occupation in National Forests

View original image[Asia Economy (Daejeon) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] The Korea Forest Service announced on the 24th that from next month 1st until the end of May next year, it will conduct a joint inspection of unauthorized occupation of national forests together with local forest services and national forest management offices.
The joint inspection will focus on unauthorized agricultural land used for farming purposes. Prior to the joint inspection, the Korea Forest Service plans to notify unauthorized occupants of national forests in advance about the crackdown and actively encourage voluntary abandonment of occupation and cultivation when visiting the sites.
In addition, activities such as installing unauthorized occupation prohibition signs and verifying national land boundaries will be carried out according to the current situation.

Joo Yong-won, Director of National Forest Management at the Korea Forest Service, said, “Damaging national forests without permission is a clear illegal act,” and added, “The Korea Forest Service will continue to work with related organizations to organize unauthorized occupation sites and prevent new occurrences.”
