According to the Gwangju Northern Fire Station on the 24th, a report of a fire at a house in Pungyang-dong, Buk-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City was received at 11:27 PM the previous day.
The fire department dispatched 21 pieces of equipment and 51 personnel, and extinguished the fire around 12:45 AM.
The fire spread through three houses built in a row, completely burning down one house and partially burning two others. During an internal search, a man estimated to be in his 70s or 80s was found dead.
The fire department plans to conduct further investigations to determine the exact cause of the fire and assess the property damage.
