Haenam-gun Selects 7 Open Childcare Centers to Create a Safe Childcare Environment

[Haenam＝Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Hyun] Haenam-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Myeong Hyun-gwan) has selected seven 'Open Daycare Centers' where parents can trust and leave their children through facility opening and expanded parental participation.

According to the county on the 23rd, Open Daycare Centers are designated by the Ministry of Health and Welfare to create a transparent and healthy childcare environment by opening daycare facilities and activating parents' daily participation to eradicate child abuse.

Haenam-gun received applications for participation in Open Daycare Centers from local daycare centers and conducted on-site evaluations by consultants from the Jeonnam Childcare Comprehensive Support Center based on openness, participation, sustainability, and diversity. After deliberation by the selection committee, five centers were selected: two newly selected and three reselected.

Accordingly, the number of Open Daycare Centers in Haenam-gun totals seven, including the existing two, accounting for 30% of the 23 daycare centers in the area.

Parents can visit Open Daycare Centers anytime upon request and can check the childcare environment through self-monitoring of childcare programs, hygiene, and safety.

Daycare centers selected as Open Daycare Centers receive incentives such as scoring and additional points when newly selecting public daycare centers, priority support for assistant teachers, and priority support for teaching materials and supplies.

Governor Myeong Hyun-gwan said, "In a situation where parents' concerns are growing due to the ongoing issue of child abuse in daycare centers, we will continue to increase the number of Open Daycare Centers that parents can trust and that provide high-quality childcare services."
