Aniplus Achieves Record High Performance Since Inception... "Business Synergy Effect"
[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Hyun-seok] Aniplus announced on the 23rd that its consolidated sales and operating profit for the third quarter reached 8.7 billion KRW and 2.9 billion KRW respectively, achieving the highest quarterly performance. Sales increased by 110.0% compared to the same period last year, and operating profit turned positive.
Additionally, compared to the previous quarter, sales and operating profit increased by 36.8% and 68.3% respectively. On a cumulative basis for the third quarter, consolidated sales reached 23.7 billion KRW, up 111.0% year-on-year, with operating profit of 7.5 billion KRW. Aniplus officials stated, "This is due to the visible synergy effects from building an effective business model."
The third-quarter sales of its subsidiary Media & Art recorded 2.7 billion KRW, a 553.2% increase compared to the same period last year, with an operating profit of 1 billion KRW. In the fourth quarter, four exhibitions including 'Yoshiko Photo Exhibition', 'Accidentally Wes Anderson', 'Van Gogh Inside the Theater', and 'Yumi's Cells Busan Exhibition' are being held simultaneously, raising expectations for improved performance.
Meanwhile, Plus Media Network Asia, a subsidiary engaged in global content distribution in Southeast Asia and the Hong Kong market, recorded third-quarter sales of 1.5 billion KRW and operating profit of 400 million KRW. Also, the MBC drama 'The Red Sleeve Cuff', produced by the drama production subsidiary Wemade and aired since the 12th, recorded favorable ratings above 5% for both episodes 1 and 2.

Aniplus officials emphasized, "The expectation for expansion into new businesses such as metaverse and NFT, along with the improvement in third-quarter management performance figures, is also an important point," adding, "Within the company, there is greater significance placed on the 180-degree changed positioning as a comprehensive content media company, which has been prepared over the past several years from being an animation company."
