Netflix Acquires Special Effects Company Behind 'Game of Thrones'
[Asia Economy Reporter Kwon Jae-hee] Netflix has decided to acquire Canadian visual effects company Scanline VFX, known for the popular drama 'Game of Thrones,' the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reported on the 22nd (local time).
According to the report, Amy Reinhart, Vice President of Netflix, said, "We are acquiring Scanline" and "We plan to invest in Scanline's workforce and facilities in the future." However, specific transaction details such as the acquisition amount were not disclosed.
Vice President Reinhart introduced, "The acquisition process will be completed in the first quarter of next year," and "After the acquisition, Scanline will continue its independent management and maintain relationships with other clients."
Scanline is also responsible for the visual effects of Netflix's representative original series such as 'Stranger Things,' 'Cowboy Bebop,' and 'The Gray Man.'
