A total of 1,001 works were submitted to this contest, and considering the purpose and artistic value of the contest, a total of 23 winning works were selected. This year, in addition to hand drawings, crafts, and designs, works exploring various forms of expression such as memorial performances (dance), posters, original songs, and music videos were submitted.
The Grand Prize, the Prime Minister's Award, was awarded to ▲Hand drawing "I Will Warmly Embrace You" by Jang Su-young, a student at Ulsan Anywon High School in the Art and Design category, and ▲Video "The Girl's Wings" by Team Nabi (Sejong Girls' High School) in the Video and Music category.
"I Will Warmly Embrace You" depicts citizens knitting red gloves to cover the bare feet of the Statue of Peace and a drawing of forget-me-not flowers nearby, which symbolize "Please do not forget me," expressing feelings of remembrance and solidarity. "The Girl's Wings" highlights the life of "Suni," who overcomes past pain and lives an autonomous life, conveying the message that it is most important to remember and not forget the issue of the Japanese military sexual slavery victims.
