Haenamcheon Area Youth DoDream Center Establishes Itself as a Youth Culture Hub

[Haenam＝Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Hyun] The Youth Harmony Festival held by Haenam-gun, Jeollanam-do from the 20th to the 21st successfully concluded with the participation of many young people.

According to the county on the 22nd, the Youth Harmony Festival commemorating Youth Day was held over two days at the Haenam Youth Dodream Center and the Haenamcheon area.

In particular, this Youth Harmony Festival was the first youth festival held in Haenam, planned and promoted by local youth, making it a meaningful event with about 100 young people directly participating in a festival tailored to the perspective of youth.

At the Haenam Youth Dodream Center, calligraphy works by local young artists were exhibited, and an invited lecture on the theme of communication and empathy delivered a message of hope to the youth living in this era.

Also, along the stream near the Haenam Youth Dodream Center, a social free market was held with a camping zone, fairy tale walking path, cosplay, flower craft experience, food sales booths, and a miscellaneous goods truck, creating a warm and friendly atmosphere as a family event where children and adults could enjoy together.

On the 20th, alongside the festival ceremony celebrating Youth Day, which had been postponed due to COVID-19, there were performances that drew attention, including a Korean traditional music event by Haenam Gugak Transmission Center and the Pungmul Gutpae Haewon, Daechwita, the official parade music of Joseon Dynasty officials, and Taekwondo dance performed by young artists active in the region.

Haenam-gun opened the Youth Dodream Center near Haenamcheon in August, which has been gaining attention as a cultural space created by youth themselves, serving as a platform to share various information such as job counseling and operating youth-tailored courses.

While discovering and promoting various policies to create youth jobs and improve residential conditions, the festival was held to provide a place for local youth to communicate and empathize through the Youth Harmony Festival.

County Governor Myeong Hyun-gwan said in his congratulatory speech, “It is even more meaningful that local youth, who are working hard in their respective places, have created a place of communication through this festival,” and added, “The county will actively discover youth policies and provide generous support.”
