Imsil-gun Launches Wild Animal Damage Prevention Project for Wild Boars and Water Deer
[Imsil=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Park Nosik] Imsil-gun, Jeonbuk, is making every effort to minimize damage to farms as the increase in the population of harmful wild animals (wild boars, water deer, etc.) is causing serious damage to crops by invading farmland.
According to the county on the 22nd, this project secured a budget of 110 million won (50% national, 15% provincial, 35% county) to install a wide-area wildlife barrier facility (V-shaped wire fence, 2 km) to completely block wild boars, water deer, and others.
The county is actively installing V-shaped wire fences, a wide-area barrier facility, as part of the wildlife damage prevention project.
Also, this year, three sites including Hakjeong-ri, Samgye-myeon were selected for installation, and the response from farmers has been very positive, making it preferred by them.
In May, a 1.3 km wide-area wildlife barrier was installed in the eco-friendly agricultural district of Hakjeong-ri, Samgye-myeon, where the project was completed, along with 19 access gates, benefiting 6.8 hectares of farmland.
As a result, it fundamentally blocks crop damage and preserves farmers' income.
Since May, a harmful wildlife damage prevention team has been operating to actively capture harmful wild animals such as wild boars and water deer, and efforts are being made to reduce the wild population.
The county plans to actively promote wide-area wildlife barrier facilities next year as well, focusing on ensuring the safety and income of farmers from wild boars, water deer, and others.
County Governor Shim Min said, “We are promoting administration that contributes to minimizing farm damage and increasing farm income by exploring various wildlife damage prevention projects to reduce damage to farms caused by harmful wild animals and to alleviate psychological anxiety.”
