Government Selects 110 'Leisure-Friendly Companies and Institutions'
Namkyung Engineering, Neptune, Eduwill, Henkel Korea Receive Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Commendation
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Regional Culture Promotion Agency announced on the 22nd that they will certify 110 companies and institutions that exemplary operate leisure-friendly systems as 'Leisure-Friendly Companies and Institutions.' The leisure-friendly system is a program that supports rewards, promotions, and other measures to help workers balance work and leisure. From 2012 to last year, 183 organizations have been certified.
This year, 110 organizations were selected through document review, on-site evaluation, and interviews. Namkyung Engineering, Neptune, Eduwill, and Henkel Korea, which were evaluated as excellent cases, will receive commendations from the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism. Namkyung Engineering implements early leave on the last Friday of every month and supports leisure expenses when acquiring certifications. Neptune introduced a 35-hour workweek campaign and an hourly leave system. Eduwill transitioned to a 4-day workweek (32 hours), and Henkel Korea implemented a flexible work system and supported leisure and cultural activity expenses.

The Regional Culture Promotion Agency Director's Award goes to Live Dental Hospital, Sosohan Communication, Poongwon Chemical, and Nuri Media. Special awards are given to Neulpureum Protection Workshop and the Namyangju Veterans Nursing Home of the Korea Veterans Welfare and Medical Service. A Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism official stated, "Efforts to guarantee workers' leisure and improve quality of life stood out, including the introduction of special leave for emotional labor, operation of psychological counseling and massage rooms, provision of leisure support funds, and support for volunteer activity expenses." They added, "We plan to provide cultural programs at workplaces and workplace daycare centers and give additional points for various linked projects."
