View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] Seven Eleven announced on the 22nd that it will introduce the autonomous delivery robot 'Newbee' at the Seocho I-Park store in Seocho-dong, Seoul, and begin a pilot operation. This comes about three months after signing a business agreement in August with the autonomous robot software development startup 'Newbility' to introduce and commercialize autonomous robot delivery services.
Newbee is equipped with a camera-based autonomous driving system, offering excellent performance. It can reliably perform autonomous delivery even in complex urban environments or in rain and snow conditions, with a maximum load capacity of 25kg.
As this is the first unmanned delivery service attempt outdoors with many variables, Seven Eleven plans to focus on system and operational stabilization. There will be a three-month intensive testing period, during which the service operation radius will be gradually expanded up to 300 meters. The number of operating units will also be sequentially increased to establish a complex operation process capable of responding immediately to delivery orders.
