Prosecutors summon Kwon Osu over 'stock manipulation suspicions'... First investigation after arrest
[Asia Economy Reporter Bae Kyunghwan] The prosecution investigating the 'Deutsche Motors stock manipulation suspicion' case is summoning Chairman Kwon Osu for questioning. This is the first investigation conducted after his detention.
According to the legal community on the 19th, the Anti-Corruption and Strong Investigation Division 2 of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office (Chief Prosecutor Jo Jooyeon) is currently questioning Chairman Kwon, who is detained at Seoul Detention Center.
Chairman Kwon is accused of violating the Capital Markets Act by leaking internal company information and illegally purchasing approximately 15.99 million shares (worth about 63.6 billion KRW) through external forces to manipulate the stock price while serving as the largest shareholder and CEO of Deutsche Motors from 2009 to 2012.
Earlier, the prosecution received a complaint alleging that Kim Gunhee, wife of Yoon Seokyoul, the People Power Party's presidential candidate, played the so-called 'broker' role in the stock manipulation process. During this process, the prosecution detected evidence of Chairman Kwon's criminal activities and launched an investigation.
