[Asia Economy Reporter Na Ye-eun] An accident occurred in which five military personnel marching back from the front-line unit were hit by a drunk-driving cargo truck, resulting in serious and moderate injuries.
At around 3 a.m. on the 18th, near Baekdu Training Ground in Wolun-ri, Dong-myeon, Yanggu-gun, Gangwon Province, a 1-ton cargo truck driven by a man in his 40s, Mr. A, struck five military personnel who were marching back to their unit. The soldiers were returning to their base at the time.
As a result of the accident, one sergeant was seriously injured, and four other military personnel, including junior officers, non-commissioned officers, and soldiers, sustained injuries. They are currently receiving treatment at the Chuncheon Armed Forces Hospital and civilian hospitals, and their lives are not in danger.
It is reported that Mr. A initially passed the scene after causing the accident but later returned.
The police received custody of Mr. A from the military and arrested him on the spot as a suspect caught in the act.

The police are investigating the circumstances of the accident, believing that Mr. A was driving under the influence with a blood alcohol concentration between 0.03% and 0.08%, which corresponds to a license suspension level, when the accident occurred.
