Lee Jae-myung: "Daejang-dong Prosecution Investigation Inadequate... Special Prosecutor Needed by Ruling and Opposition Agreement"
"Yoon Seok-yeol, 'If you did nothing wrong, why avoid it?'"
"Disaster relief fund stance reversed, 'Procedural issues damaged legitimacy'"
"Campaign committee reform, 'Criticism for not being sensitive enough to reactions'"
[Asia Economy Reporter Jeon Jin-young] Lee Jae-myung, the Democratic Party presidential candidate, stated on the 18th regarding the Daejang-dong scandal, "I believe the prosecution's investigation is very insufficient, so it is desirable for the ruling and opposition parties to agree on a special prosecutor investigation."
After the meeting of the 'Party Reform and Political Reform Lawmakers' group in the afternoon, Lee met with reporters and said, "It will be a process to reaffirm my innocence," adding, "I believe that those related to the People Power Party who committed illegal acts in this case and unlawfully obtained the results, or the People Power Party candidate, must be strictly investigated and held accountable accordingly."
Regarding Yoon Seok-youl, the People Power Party candidate, he raised his voice, saying, "If he has done nothing wrong, there is no reason to avoid it," and "I don't think he will argue to exclude certain parts and only have a special prosecutor investigation."
On his reversal of the position on additional nationwide disaster relief payments, Lee responded, "Due to factors such as budget review procedures, opposition party objections, and the government's stance, I thought the principle of providing swift support could be undermined." He added, "I believe swift and bold support is necessary in any form. However, I do not want the support itself to be delayed because of the target or method of support."
Regarding the 'campaign committee reform theory' raised by some, he said, "Many people have participated because of the tasks of one team and integration, but on the other hand, there are criticisms that the pace is slow and the response is not sensitive enough," adding, "As the election day approaches, many people seem to have doubts about whether the campaign committee is acting swiftly and nimbly enough to meet the demands and expectations of the public."
