Prosecution summons owner of 'Cheonhwadongin 7-ho' for first interrogation
[Asia Economy Reporter Bae Kyunghwan] The prosecution investigating the preferential treatment and lobbying allegations in the Daejang-dong development case is summoning the owner of 'Cheonhwadongin No. 7' for questioning. This is the first time the owner of Cheonhwadongin No. 7, a junior colleague of Hwacheon Daeyu major shareholder Kim Man-bae from a media company, has been summoned for investigation.
According to the legal community on the 18th, the dedicated investigation team of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office (led by Deputy Chief Prosecutor Kim Tae-hoon) summoned former journalist Bae Mo, who previously worked at Money Today, in the afternoon.
Bae, who recently served as the head of the legal team, is known to have invested 10 million KRW as the owner of Cheonhwadongin No. 7 and received approximately 12 billion KRW in dividends. In April last year, Bae purchased an apartment in Gangnam, Seoul, for around 3 billion KRW and acquired buildings and land in Gijang, Busan, for about 7.4 billion KRW.
Bae is known as the person who introduced Kim to lawyer Nam Wook, owner of Cheonhwadongin No. 4, and accountant Jeong Young-hak, owner of Cheonhwadongin No. 5. Lawyer Nam and accountant Jeong are key figures in the preferential treatment and lobbying allegations related to the Daejang-dong development and have been involved in the development since 2009. However, Bae's side reportedly stated that unlike Kim and others, he did not play any role related to the business.
