Festival for Youth, Gokseong-gun Youth Growth Expo
A Festival Led by and for Cheongsonyeon (Youth)
[Gokseong=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Cha Jong-sun] The Jeonnam Gokseong-gun Future Education Foundation (Chairman Yoo Geun-gi) announced on the 18th that it has been operating the ‘Gokseong-gun Youth Growth Expo’ from November 9th to December 24th.
This expo is being operated under four themes: ▲Non-face-to-face Youth Festival, ▲Youth Policy Proposal Contest, ▲Metaverse Youth Club Promotion Challenge, and ▲Visiting Job Experience. It is especially meaningful as Gokseong youth are actively participating from program planning to execution.
To hold this expo, the Gokseong-gun Future Education Foundation collaborated with the Gokseong Youth Culture House and Okgwa Youth Culture House to recruit a youth planning group. As a result, 20 local middle and high school students were selected as planners.
They directly plan and operate programs for each theme, allowing the programs to fully reflect the desires and hopes of the youth.
First, the non-face-to-face youth festival is scheduled to be held on the 20th (Saturday) from 1 PM to 5 PM on the YouTube channel ‘Gokseong-gun Future Education Foundation.’ In the first part, the voices of youth can be heard through the Youth Policy Proposal Contest.
A total of 10 teams will propose policies necessary for a better future of Gokseong-gun from the perspective of youth. The second part will feature a youth talent competition. Twelve teams will showcase various talents and skills such as dance and singing that they have been honing.
In early December, the Metaverse Youth Club Promotion Challenge will take place.
Through Naver’s metaverse platform Zepeto, you can get a glimpse of the activities of youth clubs active in Gokseong-gun.
Around December 1st, photos of activities, promotional posts, and various other content from about 20 youth clubs affiliated with Gokseong High School and Okgwa High School will be posted on the Future Education Foundation’s website, accessible via a provided link.
The visiting job experience started on November 9th and will continue until the 26th. Professionals from 26 specialized occupations, such as pet groomers and 3D printer experts, visit individual schools to share vivid stories from their workplaces.
This program targets about 2,000 youth, who can choose and participate in job groups according to their interests.
A youth participant A, involved in the planning group, said, “Until now, there have been few opportunities for youth to officially express their voices. As a result, youth have been somewhat marginalized in various aspects, but through this expo, I hope that we youth become the main agents of youth policy and can actively participate. I also hope that a healthy and happy youth culture will take root in our county through this.”
