Gwangju Metropolitan Office of Education Urgently Switches 6 Schools in Gwangsan-gu to Remote Classes
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Cho Hyung-joo] The Gwangju Metropolitan Office of Education announced on the 18th that it will urgently switch to remote classes for a total of six schools, including three elementary schools and three middle schools in Gwangsan-gu, from the 22nd to the 26th to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Recently, multiple student cases have been confirmed at a middle school in Gwangsan-gu. In this regard, students who had contact with the confirmed patients' families and those attending academies frequented by the confirmed students are distributed across nearby schools, raising concerns about further spread.
Accordingly, the Office of Education decided on this remote class measure to prevent additional spread among students with low vaccination completion rates.
Lee Byung-kwan, Director of the Physical Education and Arts Convergence Education Division, said, "We ask for parents' understanding and cooperation regarding the unavoidable remote classes and student care to prevent infection and spread within schools," adding, "We urge strict adherence to basic quarantine rules, including cooperation with the government's vaccination policy, proper mask-wearing, simultaneous opening of windows and doors for ventilation, frequent airing, and prompt testing if any suspicious symptoms appear."
