The Largest Character Licensing Event in Korea Resumes After 2 Years
Character Licensing Fair at COEX from 25th to 28th
Over 200 Domestic and International Character and Content Companies Participate
The largest character licensing event in Korea is resuming after two years. It is the Character Licensing Fair, hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and organized by the Korea Creative Content Agency. The event will be held from the 25th to the 28th at COEX Hall C·D1 in Samseong-dong, Seoul. Under the theme "Flexing the Character Industry," it will present the expansion and unlimited growth potential of the content IP licensing industry.
About 200 character and content companies will participate in the event. These include Iconix, known for "Pororo the Little Penguin," Roy Visual of "Robocar Poli," Seoul Merchandising Company of "Moomin" and "Bonobono," and Lotte World of "Roti." The exhibition hall will be filled with content that appeals to preschoolers, the MZ generation, and all age groups. There will also be the "Rookie Project" introducing characters from new creators and companies, the "IP K-Max Zone" showcasing entertainment content, and the "Emoticon Class Zone" which materializes online emoticon characters. A representative from the Korea Creative Content Agency said, "You can also find various licensing products from games, e-sports, music, movies, webtoons, and animation."
The Character Licensing Fair is also a venue for domestic and international business matching. This year, the event will combine the IP Licensing Build-up project production presentation, pitching, and exhibition. It aims to strengthen content infrastructure and production capabilities by linking IPs of large corporate platforms with small and medium enterprises. A Korea Creative Content Agency official explained, "Lotte World, Everland, Megabox, and others will present collaboration cases and support distribution activation through prototype exhibitions, business matching, and IR pitching."
