Gangjin-gun Receives 'Minister of Strategy and Finance Commendation' for Excellence in Large-Scale Statistical Survey Work

Ministerial Commendation in the Institutional Sector, Statistics Korea Commissioner’s Commendation Awarded to Public Officials and Survey Personnel

[Gangjin＝Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-su] On the 17th, Gangjin-gun, Jeollanam-do announced that it was selected as a meritorious institution in the Population and Housing Census category in the ‘2021 Large-scale Statistical Survey Meritorious Award’ hosted by Statistics Korea, and received the Institutional Commendation from the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Strategy and Finance.

The Statistical Meritorious Award is promoted by Statistics Korea every five years to encourage institutions and individuals who have successfully conducted large-scale statistical surveys.

This year’s award evaluated and rewarded the 2020 Population and Housing Census, Agricultural, Forestry and Fishery Census, and Economic Census conducted from last year to this year. Gangjin-gun not only received the institutional commendation but also 11 public officials and statistical survey personnel were honored with the Commissioner of Statistics Korea’s Commendation.

For the Population and Housing Census, the county actively utilized non-face-to-face surveys to prevent COVID-19 infection, and the responsible public officials and survey personnel worked together to successfully complete the survey of 10,602 households in the jurisdiction.

In particular, they were recognized for their achievements in selecting and training survey personnel, guiding statistical surveys, leading active participation of residents, and strictly adhering to quarantine rules.

Lee Jun-beom, Director of Planning and Public Relations, expressed his thoughts, saying, “I would like to express my deep gratitude to the survey personnel who made efforts without losing kindness and smiles despite difficult situations such as COVID-19 and bad weather.”
