Global Startup Festival 'ComeUp 2021' Opens... "Highlighting Changes After COVID-19"
Large-scale offline events held alongside phased daily recovery

View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heeyoon] COMEUP 2021, Asia's premier startup festival that introduces the Korean startup ecosystem to countries around the world and provides opportunities for K-startups to expand overseas, opened on the 17th at Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP).
The event, themed "Meet the Future - Transformation," will run until the 19th.
The Ministry of SMEs and Startups plans to further strengthen communication and exchange among domestic and international innovative startups, investors, and global companies through a large-scale offline-centered global startup event alongside the phased recovery of daily life.
The opening ceremony of 'COMEUP 2021' proceeded in the order of theme video, congratulatory speeches, welcome address, round table, and startup booth visits.
President Moon Jae-in emphasized in his congratulatory video speech, "The world is now accelerating the pace of digital innovation and has begun a new leap beyond COVID-19," adding, "Startups that create unprecedented products and services through innovation and ideas are at the center of this."
He continued, "I hope COMEUP will be an opportunity to share dreams, passion, and ideas and to leap higher together."
Minister Kwon Chil-seung of the Ministry of SMEs and Startups stated in his welcome address, "Korea is currently experiencing what is called the second venture boom, with the startup and venture ecosystem growing remarkably," and added, "As the era of startups that do not fear change but rather see it as an opportunity for challenge approaches, the Ministry of SMEs and Startups will wholeheartedly support that future."
