Moon Seung-wook, Minister of Industry, Meets Young Climate Activists to Discuss Carbon Neutrality
[Sejong=Asia Economy Reporter Kwon Haeyoung] Moon Seung-wook, Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy, held a meeting on the 17th with Yoon Soon-jin, the private chairman of the Carbon Neutrality Committee, and youth climate activists from the youth council to exchange opinions on ways to implement carbon neutrality.
Minister Moon said, "At the 26th United Nations Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP26), which concluded last week, it was agreed to hold the 'Youth Climate Forum' annually at South Korea's proposal," adding, "The whole world agreed that when we think about the climate crisis together with the youth, solutions can be found more quickly."
He continued, "Since the 2050 carbon neutrality scenario and the 2030 Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) have been finalized, it is now more important than anything to implement them well," and stated, "As the key ministry for implementing carbon neutrality, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy will prepare an implementation strategy within this year covering its areas of jurisdiction, including industry, energy, and transportation."
The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy plans to announce the 'Carbon Neutral Industry and Energy R&D Strategy' at the '2nd Carbon Neutral Industrial Transition Promotion Committee' meeting held on the same day.

Minister Moon emphasized, "Carbon neutrality cannot be achieved by government efforts alone; it is possible only when all economic actors, including the youth, work together," and added, "We will continue to actively promote communication between the youth, who are the future generation, and the industry."
