Choi Jong-geon: "Declaration of the End of War, a Starting Point for Denuclearization Negotiations"
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] On the 15th (local time), Choi Jong-geon, First Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, stated at the '2021 KF-CSIS Korea-US Strategic Forum' jointly hosted by the Korea Foundation (KF) and the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) in the United States, "The declaration of the end of the war is an important starting point for denuclearization negotiations and the establishment of a permanent peace regime."
Considering the COVID-19 situation, about 40 audience members attended the forum on-site, while about 150 participated online.
Vice Minister Choi emphasized that the Korea-US alliance has developed into a comprehensive and mutually beneficial alliance cooperating beyond the Korean Peninsula at regional and global levels, and that resolving the Korean Peninsula issue is the government's duty to ensure the full normalcy of our people's lives and the most important task of the Korea-US alliance.

He then explained the efforts the Korea-US alliance has made over the past four years for denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula and the establishment of lasting peace, and reminded that President Moon Jae-in has proposed the declaration of the end of the war again to resume dialogue with North Korea.
