Through this business agreement, both companies plan to cooperate in the future premium silver business and aim to secure a leading position in the related market.
Additionally, NH Investment & Securities plans to actively expand its investment activities from an ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) perspective. NH Investment & Securities, which was upgraded to the highest grade of A among domestic securities firms in this year's ESG evaluation by the Korea Corporate Governance Service (KCGS), announced recently, will continue responsible ESG management by strengthening socially responsible investment activities.
The proportion of the domestic population aged 65 and over is expected to increase from 15.7% this year to about 37% by 2045. However, there is an absolute shortage of high-end residential welfare facilities for the elderly with purchasing power. In Japan, the silver industry rapidly grew after the baby boomer generation entered old age, and it is expected that the demand for silver towns in Korea will also surge after 2025, when the Korean baby boomer generation (born between 1955 and 1965) enters old age.
Silver towns are premium residential welfare facilities designed for seniors aged 60 and above, where residents pay a certain level of deposit and living expenses to live long-term for over 10 years. Residents can enjoy high-quality senior living with hotel-style concierge services (cleaning, laundry, mail/delivery, lifestyle management, etc.), meals, and medical support. Lotte Hotel signaled its market entry by taking on the operation consulting for a premium silver town being developed in the Osiria Tourism Complex in Gijang-gun, Busan, in June. NH Investment & Securities participated as the financial arranger for project financing for this business, establishing a connection between the two companies.
