'One UI 4' Launches on the 15th... Sequential Application from Galaxy S21
Change Desired Style with Color Palette... Enhanced Privacy Protection
Improved Fall Detection and Other 'Galaxy Watch4' Features Also Applied to Previous Versions
[Asia Economy Reporter Eunmo Koo] Samsung Electronics announced on the 16th that it has conducted a software update for 'Galaxy' smartphone users.
This update was carried out in two parts: ▲the official release of 'One UI 4,' which provides an enhanced mobile environment ▲and the expansion of the latest features of the Galaxy Watch4 to previous versions of the product.
Yoon Jang-hyun, Vice President of Samsung Electronics' Wireless Business Division, said, "We are doing our best to provide the best mobile experience to as many people as possible," adding, "We will continue to strive to enable tablet users as well as smartphone users to experience smoother connectivity within the Galaxy ecosystem."
The newly introduced One UI 4 features an enhanced mobile environment with new user options, strengthened privacy protection functions, and expanded accessibility within the Galaxy ecosystem. One UI 4 began rolling out on the 15th starting with the Galaxy S21 series in Korea, the United States, and Europe, and will gradually expand to the Galaxy Z, Galaxy S, Galaxy Note series, and tablets.
One UI 4 allows users to change styles according to their preferences. First, users can customize the home screen, icons, notifications, and wallpapers using a new color palette to create their desired style. Additionally, widgets with enhanced customization features allow users to set designs and displayed information in their own style.
Privacy and personal information protection features have also been strengthened. Users can easily and accurately select items to share or keep private. Furthermore, the system immediately notifies users when an app accesses the camera or microphone, and the 'Privacy Dashboard' makes it easy to manage privacy settings.
Along with this, Samsung Electronics also conducted software updates for existing Galaxy Watch series such as the Galaxy Watch, Galaxy Watch Active, Galaxy Watch Active2, and Galaxy Watch3. As a result, users can now enjoy the latest features applied to the recently released Galaxy Watch4. The update will be applied first in Korea and the United States and will gradually expand to other regions.
With this update, the Watch Active2 and Watch3 will send SOS alerts to pre-designated contacts if the user suddenly falls while stationary. Until now, the fall detection feature on these two models only worked during exercise or movement, but the update has expanded this functionality.
