[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heung-soon] Yoon Seok-yeol, the presidential candidate of the People Power Party, and Lee Jun-seok, the party leader, held a private meeting on the 15th.
The two met alone without any attendants for about 40 minutes at the central party office in Yeouido in the afternoon. This meeting was unplanned and was arranged at the suggestion of Yoon's side. It appears that discussions regarding various appointments, including the party secretary-general, took place during this meeting.
After the meeting, Yoon told reporters that he could not disclose the details of their conversation but said, "Anyway, I had announced that I would form the campaign committee centered around the party. (The campaign committee appointments) are progressing well, so there is no need to worry."
When asked about the resignation rumors of Secretary-General Han Ki-ho that surfaced the previous day, he was reserved, saying, "Various things are progressing well." It is known that Han met privately with Lee the day before and left his position decision to him. There were also reports that with Yoon gaining priority over party affairs, there was an intention to appoint a new person as secretary-general.
Earlier, Yoon did not attend the Supreme Council meeting, citing a breakfast meeting schedule in the morning, and Lee skipped both the Supreme Council opening remarks and the press briefing, which led to interpretations that the two were engaged in a power struggle.

In response, Lee explained after the meeting, "We had our usual exchange of opinions regarding the campaign committee," adding, "Since some reports contained inaccuracies, we met to check if anything was omitted." He also said, "Regarding the differences over the secretary-general, we are cautious about the concerns being amplified," and "We are reaching a consensus, and this is only a part of the many topics discussed today."
