Yeosu-si, Odongdo Dongbaek Train Service Resumes
Resumption of Operations from the 15th Marking Gradual Return to Normal Life
[Yeosu=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Sim Kyung-taek] The famous Camellia Train of Odongdo in Yeosu City, Jeollanam-do, has resumed operation after 1 year and 3 months in line with the phased daily recovery (With Corona).
The city announced that the Camellia Train had suspended operation in August last year due to the spread of COVID-19 infection, but resumed operation from the 15th to provide convenience to tourists in accordance with the phased daily recovery.
The Odongdo Camellia Train consists of two trains, each measuring 27m in length and 2.3m in width, with a maximum speed of about 15 km/h.
Although there was an attempt to resume operation in July, the start of the 4th wave of COVID-19 made it difficult to restart the service.
The city plans to allow 75 passengers, which is 75% of the total seating capacity, to ensure passenger safety and prevent the re-spread of COVID-19. Additionally, for passenger safety, temperature checks and the Safe Call entry management system will be operated, and passengers who do not wear masks or have a body temperature exceeding 37.5 degrees Celsius will not be allowed to board.
A city official said, "Although the Camellia Train operation is resumed to revitalize tourism in Yeosu City and Odongdo, concerns about COVID-19 infection still remain," and added, "We ask all passengers to strictly follow quarantine rules for everyone's safety."
