Government to Publish Urea Solution Stock Status Twice Daily Online Starting Tomorrow
[Sejong=Asia Economy Reporter Son Seonhee] The government has decided to disclose urea solution inventory information on the internet more than twice daily through 100 gas stations nationwide. This measure aims to smoothly support the supply and demand of urea solution on site and enhance the convenience of consumers.
Lee Eokwon, the 1st Vice Minister of the Ministry of Economy and Finance, held the 8th inter-ministerial joint response meeting on urea solution supply and demand at the Government Seoul Office and discussed these measures, the Ministry of Economy and Finance reported. In addition, while prioritizing supply to the existing 100 gas stations, the government plans to gradually expand the supply stations once production volume is secured.
Earlier, during on-site inspections, the government discovered 700 tons of vehicle-grade urea and is producing 200 liters of urea solution from it. Of this, excluding 200,000 liters of urea solution for public purposes, 180 liters are being sequentially supplied to 100 gas stations nationwide. As of the previous day, 194,000 liters had been delivered to 74 gas stations, and an additional supply to about 30 gas stations is planned for the day. Part of the production volume is subdivided into 10-liter containers and supplied through the manufacturers' own distribution networks.
Furthermore, among the 27,000 liters of urea solution imported from Australia, the priority allocation amount for ambulances (4,790 liters) is being shipped to 18 bases in 17 cities and provinces nationwide. The remaining 22,000 liters will be supplied mainly to emergency demand sites through inter-ministerial consultations. Additionally, the government is mobilizing all diplomatic channels, including diplomatic channels, overseas trade offices, and local embassies, to secure additional overseas supplies.
Regarding this, the Malaysian Embassy responded on the 11th that it will supply 1 million liters of vehicle-grade urea solution through consultations between local companies and Petronas Chemicals (which produces 15,000 tons of vehicle-grade urea annually), the government announced. The government is also reviewing supply contracts for urea and urea solution through Saudi Arabia, Vietnam, Mexico, and others.

Moreover, to ensure smooth fertilizer production, the government plans to check the urea supply status of fertilizer manufacturers. However, since it is currently the off-season for farming, overall demand is low, and 1,810 tons of urea fertilizer for cultivation will be sequentially supplied to southern regions targeting winter crop cultivation areas.
