[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Trainee Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] Senior local business leaders have joined forces to attract a world-class event to Busan.
The Busan Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Busan City held a donation ceremony for sponsoring companies supporting the 2030 Busan World Expo at the protocol room on the 7th floor of Busan City Hall on the 15th.
At the event, Jang In-hwa, chairman of the Busan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, expressed his hope that senior local business leaders would set a good example first to ensure the successful attraction of the 2030 Busan World Expo, which led to the participation of these senior business leaders.
At a meeting between the Busan Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Busan City in August, Mayor Park Hyung-jun of Busan also requested support, emphasizing the need for local business participation to successfully attract the 2030 Busan World Expo.
Eleven senior business leaders representing the Busan economic community participated in raising the sponsorship fund, each donating 100 million KRW, totaling 1.1 billion KRW, which was handed over to the Mayor of Busan.
The participating business leaders are: Kang Byung-jung, chairman of Nexen Group; Kim Jong-gak, chairman of Dongil; Hyun Seung-hoon, chairman of Hwasung Group; Jang Bok-man, chairman of Dongwon Development; Kim Jae-jin, chairman of Kyungdong Construction; Song Kyu-jung, chairman of Winsteel; Park Jung-oh, chairman of Samjung Enterprise; Lee Myung-geun, chairman of Sungwoo Hitech; Shin Jeong-taek, chairman of Sewoon Steel; Yoo Jae-jin, chairman of Star Motors; and Kwon Hyuk-woon, chairman of IS Dongseo.
At the donation ceremony, the senior business leaders said, “The 2030 Busan World Expo is a precious gift to pass on to future generations,” and “For the future of Busan’s economy, senior business leaders will set an example by ensuring the successful attraction of the Expo.”
Jang In-hwa, chairman of the Busan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, who prepared the ceremony, said, “While the Olympics and World Cup are centered on athletes, the Expo is led by businesses,” and “The Busan Chamber of Commerce and Industry will represent the local economic community and work hard for a successful attraction.”
All sponsorship funds secured through the local economic community will be delivered to the 2030 Busan World Expo Citizens’ Committee and will be used for projects to attract the 2030 Busan World Expo, including overseas negotiations and public relations campaigns targeting the general public and citizens starting next year.
