[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heung-soon] KOTRA is jointly hosting the '2021 Global Public Procurement Export Consultation' online from the 15th to the 26th with the Public Procurement Service and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to expand entry into overseas public procurement markets.
More than 170 domestic companies interested in overseas procurement are participating in this event to consult with 58 ordering agencies and procurement vendors from 27 countries including Indonesia, Vietnam, Kazakhstan, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Tanzania, the United States, and Russia, exploring possibilities for business cooperation. The main consultation fields include healthcare and pharmaceuticals, plants and construction, electrical and electronics and IT, machinery and parts, among others.
From the 15th to the 17th, briefings related to overseas public procurement markets will also be held. Leading international organizations such as the United Nations Procurement Division (UNPD), the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), and the Asian Development Bank (ADB), as well as ordering agencies and prominent procurement vendors from countries like Ethiopia and the United States, will share their procurement policies, directions, promising procurement items, and entry strategies.

This year, briefings promoting innovative product technologies and sessions to help understand entry into the Economic Development Cooperation Fund (EDCF) projects have been added. KOTRA President Yoo Jung-yeol stated, "The overseas public procurement market has high entry barriers for foreign companies and is a challenging market, but once entry is successful, continuous transactions are possible based on trust in products and services. We will continue to support domestic procurement companies in expanding their presence in overseas markets through cooperation with related organizations during the COVID-19 era."
