Oh Byeong-gwon Acting Governor Visits Gyeonggi Fire Department... "Urges Thorough Fire Prevention Measures"
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] On the 9th, Firefighting Day, Oh Byeong-kwon, Acting Governor of Gyeonggi Province, visited the Gyeonggi Fire and Disaster Headquarters in Gwonseon-gu, Suwon, to encourage firefighters and urge the thorough implementation of winter fire safety measures.
On that day, Acting Governor Oh toured the Disaster Comprehensive Command Center of the Gyeonggi Fire Headquarters and the Suwon Southern Fire Station in sequence, reviewing various statuses including Gyeonggi’s firefighting capabilities, firefighting activities, and COVID-19 response.
At the event, Acting Governor Oh said, "Firefighting is a reliable neighbor protecting the safety of the residents, and I sincerely congratulate all Gyeonggi residents on the 59th Firefighting Day." He added, "Gyeonggi Fire has received a Grade 1 rating in the fire category for three consecutive years in the government’s 'Regional Safety Index' evaluation and has resuscitated the largest number of cardiac arrest patients nationwide. I extend special thanks to the heroic Gyeonggi firefighting family."
He continued, "Please do your best to implement the winter fire safety measures carried out until February next year," adding, "Please thoroughly establish fire prevention and safety management targeting frequently fire-prone logistics warehouses and construction sites."
Acting Governor Oh especially promised, "As the acting governor, I will meticulously take care of all matters to ensure that firefighters struggling on the front lines of disaster sites do not face any obstacles in performing their duties."
In response, Lee Sang-gyu, Chief of the Gyeonggi Fire Headquarters, said, "We will concentrate all our capabilities on fire safety management to prevent large-scale fires in Gyeonggi Province this winter," and added, "Gyeonggi Fire, the disaster safety control tower of Gyeonggi Province, will always be prepared to take the lead in protecting the lives and property of residents in the event of a major disaster."
