Hanwha Systems Publishes First Sustainability Management Report Introducing ESG Activities
[Asia Economy Reporter Jeong Hyunjin] Hanwha Systems announced on the 9th that it has published its first Sustainability Management Report, detailing its ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) activities and management performance from last year.
In this report, Hanwha Systems disclosed its environmental safety management and climate change response activities in the environmental sector; social contribution, quality management, and mutual growth in the social sector; and ethics and compliance management, information protection and leakage prevention systems, and enterprise-wide risk management in the governance sector. The report also presented its sustainability management vision to create a future together through "hyper-connected, hyper-intelligent, and hyper-convergent technologies" as a global defense electronics and ICT smart solutions provider.
Oh Seong-cheol, CEO of Hanwha Systems, stated, "Through the publication of the Sustainability Management Report, we aim to transparently share with stakeholders not only our financial growth but also non-financial factors such as ethical management, mutual growth, eco-friendly activities, and ESG performance." He added, "We will further strengthen our technological competitiveness and do our best to fulfill the increased corporate social responsibilities and roles in the post-COVID-19 era."
Hanwha Systems' Sustainability Management Report was prepared in accordance with the international ESG disclosure guidelines 'GRI Standards,' the U.S. Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB), and the recommendations of the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD). It also completed third-party verification by the Korea Management Registrar (KMR).

Earlier, Hanwha Systems was included for the first time in this year's evaluation by the Korea Corporate Governance Service (KCGS) announced on the 26th of last month, receiving an overall ESG grade of A. In June, Hanwha Systems established an ESG Committee composed of three members, two of whom are outside directors. Additionally, in May, it was selected as a "Caring Company 2.0" by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, and for two consecutive years since last year, it has been recognized as a "Top Job Creator in Korea" by the Ministry of Employment and Labor for creating youth employment and fostering a flexible work environment.
