Kindergarten Teacher Who Put Foreign Substance in School Meal Released on Bail
[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Byung-don] A special class teacher accused of putting foreign substances in meals at a kindergarten in Geumcheon-gu, Seoul, has been released on bail.
On the 8th, Judge Kim In-taek of the Criminal Division 5 at the Seoul Southern District Court granted the bail request of Park (48), stating there were "substantial reasons" to do so.
Park, who had previously filed a bail request on the 13th of last month, will now stand trial without being detained.
Park was arrested and indicted on July 6 for violating the Special Act on the Punishment of Child Abuse Crimes (aggravated punishment for child abuse by workers at child welfare facilities) and property damage, among other charges.

Park, who worked at a public kindergarten in Geumcheon-gu, is suspected of putting an unidentified liquid into a student's lunch container and a colleague teacher's coffee cup in November of last year. The medicine bottle Park possessed was found to contain ingredients such as mosquito repellent and surfactants.
