Mokpo Coast Guard Rescues Two Drowning Victims in the Sea Late at Night
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Seo Young-seo] Amid strong winds, multiple drowning incidents occurred at sea during the night, prompting the Coast Guard to swiftly carry out rescue operations.
The Mokpo Coast Guard Station (Chief Im Jae-su) announced that at 1:13 a.m. on the 8th, they received a report from a passerby that a person had fallen into the sea in front of the fish market in Dongmyeong-dong, Mokpo City, and was holding onto a ship's anchor rope.
Upon receiving the report, the Coast Guard dispatched the Seosan Police Substation rescue team and the West Sea Special Rescue Unit, arriving at the scene within 4 minutes of the report. They found the drowning victim, Mr. A (in his 70s), and entered the water directly to quickly rescue him.
Later, at 3:11 a.m. on the same day, another report was received that Mr. B (in his 60s) had fallen into the sea due to carelessness while moving between moored ships in front of the Mokpo Children's Sea Science Museum. The police substation dispatched a coastal rescue boat.
The Coast Guard arrived at the scene, rescued Mr. B, and transported him to land using the coastal rescue boat.
