Hosted by Mapo-gu (Mayor Yudonggyun) and organized by the Mapo Cultural Center (Director Choi Jaehong), the event was held both online and offline from November 1 to 7.
The district held this festival to provide comfort and joy to residents weary from COVID-19 and to bring hope and vitality to the stagnant traditional markets and cultural and arts sectors, aligning with the start of the phased daily recovery (With Corona) on November 1.
In particular, the concert held for three days from the 5th at the World Cup Park Peace Plaza was managed strictly by allowing only pre-registered vaccinated attendees, ensuring thorough compliance with quarantine rules. As a result, the performances were safely enjoyed, serving as an encouraging occasion for Mapo residents to welcome the newly resumed daily life.
The festival began with the opening event featuring a stage performance reenacting the arrival of the yellow sailboat, followed by concerts, a walking event, an online Saeujeot marketplace, and on-site Saeujeot sales at two traditional markets within the district.
Especially, the three-day concert starting on the 5th was also live-streamed on Mapo-gu’s YouTube channel ‘my Mapo’ for residents who could not attend in person.
The cumulative views of the videos?including the first day’s ‘Mapo Naru Healing Concert’ featuring the yellow sailboat arrival reenactment, the second day’s ‘Good Concert with D’Live,’ and the final day’s ‘Mapo M Classic’?reached approximately 4,200 as of November 7, receiving great response. Including the live broadcast on Mapo TV on the first day, over 5,600 people enjoyed the Mapo Naru Saeujeot Festival online.
The small business support health walking event held over two days on the 5th and 6th at the Gyeongui Line Forest Trail was conducted with 200 pre-registered Mapo residents who had completed vaccination (100 participants per day).
The ‘Online Saeujeot Marketplace,’ which ran from November 1 to 7 with participation from 12 domestic vendors nationwide, sold famous regional Saeujeot at prices at least 15% lower than market rates. Due to continued strong interest and response, the online sales period is planned to be extended until the end of November.
Additionally, on-site sales of famous regional Saeujeot took place at Ahyeon Market and Mapo-Gongdeok Market between November 5 and 7, bringing renewed vitality to the traditional markets that had been sluggish due to COVID-19.

Yudonggyun, Mayor of Mapo-gu, stated, “The Mapo Naru Saeujeot Festival, now in its 14th year, was held in a new format reflecting the phased daily recovery. I am very grateful that participants actively cooperated with quarantine rules, allowing the event to conclude safely and without incident over three days. I believe this festival provided a long-awaited opportunity to bring joy back to the daily lives of residents exhausted by COVID-19. Moving forward, we will continue to strive to fulfill our role as a venue for urban-rural coexistence and community harmony.”
