Gyeonggi-do Secures Over 10,000 Parking Spaces in 'Severely Congested Parking Areas'

View original image[Asia Economy Reporter La Young-cheol] Gyeonggi Province announced on the 8th that it has secured more than 10,000 new parking spaces through the "Parking Environment Improvement Project" carried out since 2018.
According to the province, a total of 114 projects with a budget of 89.5 billion KRW were supported in areas with severe parking difficulties such as old downtown residential districts, creating 2,823 parking spaces in 2018, 2,908 in 2019, 5,534 in 2020, and 2,524 this year, totaling 13,789 parking spaces.
The parking lot acquisition rate increased from 102% in 2018 to 118% in 2020, and the minimum required parking lot acquisition rate, combining residential, workplace, and visit locations, also rose from 78% in 2018 to 90% last year.

The province plans to continue implementing projects in areas experiencing parking difficulties and intends to promote customized measures, including reviewing a plan to grant additional evaluation points when requests for support of the Parking Environment Improvement Project are made near children's protection zones.
