Jeonnam Provincial Assembly Member Kim Jeonghee Points Out "Incorrect Distribution of Quarantine Supplies"
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Jun-gyeong] Kim Jeong-hee, a member of the Jeonnam Provincial Assembly (Democratic Party of Korea·Suncheon 5), pointed out during the administrative audit of the Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education that quarantine supplies for vulnerable students were distributed for purposes other than intended.
According to materials submitted by Assemblyman Kim Jeong-hee on the 7th, the vulnerable group quarantine supplies support project is a program that provides 50,000 KRW per student in quarantine supply packages such as masks, and it was included in the second supplementary budget this year.
Assemblyman Kim stated, “The budget for purchasing quarantine supplies was given to general students instead of vulnerable students, which is not in accordance with the purpose,” and “In some schools, quarantine supplies worth about 9,000 KRW, not 50,000 KRW per student, were distributed to students,” he questioned.
He added, “Budgets allocated to schools must be thoroughly checked to ensure they are used appropriately,” and “Supervision and guidance should be strengthened so that school budgets can be used as intended in the future.”
An official from the Provincial Office of Education said, “In some small schools with few students, quarantine supplies were distributed to all students due to concerns about stigmatization of vulnerable students,” and “We will provide detailed guidance to schools to prevent such incidents from happening again.”
