According to the AP report on the same day, a drone attack targeted the Prime Minister's residence in the Green Zone of Baghdad, injuring seven security guards, but Prime Minister Al-Kadhimi was unharmed.
The Iraqi government confirmed in a press release, "The drone attempted to strike Prime Minister Al-Kadhimi's residence but caused no harm."
Iraq's state media reported, "A drone equipped with explosives attempted to assassinate the Prime Minister at the residence in the Green Zone but failed."
Immediately after the attack, Prime Minister Al-Kadhimi wrote on Twitter, "'The rocket of treason' will not shake the steadfastness and determination of the heroic Iraqi military and police even an inch," adding, "I and those around me are safe, and I thank God."
