North Korea Pressures South Korean and U.S. Governments in Response to Strengthened Sanctions Policy
[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo In-ho] North Korea has strongly criticized our government, which is maintaining a policy of strengthening sanctions against the North. This is interpreted as a strategy to pressure both South Korea and the United States by raising the level of criticism against the government.
North Korean media urged the South Korean authorities to make a decision to withdraw their double-standard hostile views and policies toward the North.
The external propaganda media 'Tongil-ui Meari' stated on the 6th in a 'Current Affairs Commentary' that "the prejudiced perspective and unfair double-standard attitude of the South Korean authorities toward the Republic are the root causes of hostile feelings between compatriots and the fundamental obstacles hindering the development of inter-Korean relations."
The media criticized, "Nevertheless, the South Korean authorities try to evade our legitimate major pending issues by making unreasonable excuses and justifications."
It continued, "Withdrawing unfair double-standard attitudes, hostile perspectives, and policies is a major pending issue that must be resolved first to manage inter-Korean relations and open a bright future. This is by no means a matter to be glossed over."
It then demanded, "If the South Korean authorities truly want to restore and genuinely develop inter-Korean relations, they must make a bold decision to resolve the major pending issues put forward by our Republic."
